Home Sweet Home School: Mom's Overnight Retreat
with speakers Phylicia Masonheimer and Ann Duran
Phylicia Masonheimer grew up in northern Michigan as the homeschooled oldest of six children. She received her B.S. in Religion from Liberty University, where she met her husband, Josh. After five years in Central Virginia – where she worked as the Homeschool Coordinator and Recruiter for Liberty- she and Josh moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where their daughter Adeline was born. After a year in Lancaster, they moved to her Michigan hometown in the fall of 2016. In the fall of 2017, they welcomed their second daughter, Geneva, to the family. A few years later they moved a small farm outside of town, and in 2020 welcomed their son Ivan to the family.
A few of Phylicia's favorite things: French pressed coffee, Lake Michigan, Friday morning farm markets, and Lilly Pulitzer. She is an ENTJ on the Myers-Briggs personality scale and finds nothing more thrilling than setting new goals (January 1st is her favorite day of the year.)
She is often asked for her theological perspective. Because she was raised charismatic, attended a Southern Baptist university, and has been a member of Presbyterian, Baptist, charismatic, and nondenominational churches, she does not subscribe to any specific denomination. Much of her work involves bridging the gap between different Christian viewpoints, and while she certainly has her own stances, she does her best to educate on as many views as possible. This middle ground has enabled her to serve women of ALL denominations as they go deeper in their understanding of Scripture and obedience to Holy Spirit.
Phylicia is the author of several self published books, including the new release The Flirtation Experiment, and the national bestselling Harvest House publication Stop Calling Me Beautiful, which reached #1 in Christianity and Religion when it launched in February 2020.
Ann Duran, Phylicia's mom, is a veteran homeschooler of 25 years. After achieving her Associates degree in early childhood education she went on to homeschool her six children, four of whom graduated college with honors. One is currently in college and the other graduates high school in 2022!
