Katherine Bussard

Salt & Light Global

Katherine Bussard is a Christian who loves the Lord and strives to honor Him in every aspect of her life. After graduating early from her family homeschool, Katherine completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at age 19 through Thomas Edison State University, where she studied English
and history and received the Arnold Fletcher Award for Academic Achievement. She continued her education studying theology and graduating from Foundations South Bible Institute a few years later. Passionate about Gospel and worldview discipleship, she served as an administrator
and instructor in Christian home education programs for 14 years, writing a book on accelerated distance learning and college and career readiness and speaking at national education conferences. She as also worked as the programs & communication director for the Student Statesmanship Institute and Citizens for Traditional Values, where she worked to disciple youth and adults in a Judeo-Christian worldview and equipped them to be engaged Christian citizens.
Because local government most directly impacts citizens and their daily quality of life, Katherine is passionate about public service at the local level. She served for four years as a councilwoman in the City of Potterville and was later elected as mayor by her peers. Working as a governmental consultant, Katherine coordinated statewide campaigns, advised local municipalities and counties on public policy, consulted on municipal strategic planning, and later worked as Downtown Development Director for the Village of Middleville. She now serves as the Executive Director & COO of Salt & Light Global, facilitates training in good governance for communities around the state, mentors other Christian women in local government, and continues to be involved in her own community as a member of the Potterville School Board, where she resides with her husband Jeff. Soli Deo Gloria.
