MiCHN Statement of Faith

We believe:

1. The Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, infallible, divinely preserved Word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

2. That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:18; John 1:1-3, 18; Acts 5:3,4)

3. In the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His imminent bodily return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:30-37; Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:6-11; 1 John 3:5; 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 15:4, 14, 20; Luke 24:36-43; John 20:24-29; Acts 1:9-11; Ephesians 1:20)

4. That mankind was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only those who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, shall be saved. (Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:15-17; 3:1-24; Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22; Romans 3:9-20; Mark 7:20-23; John 3:1-21)

5. That salvation is the free gift of God brought to the sinner by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose substitutionary death on the cross paid the penalty for man’s sin. (Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 3:21-26; 9:30-33; Galatians 3:11-14, 22-24)

6. That spiritual regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, as the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. (John 16:7-15; Titus 3:5; John 3:5-8; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13,14; 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Galatians 3:2; Romans 8:2-4; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 5:18; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:23-32; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

7. In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto eternal life and the lost unto eternal damnation. (Daniel 12:2; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15;  Revelation 20:12-15)

8. That God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex, or embracing a gender identity different from one's biological sex, is a denial of who God created you to be. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 5:2; Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6; Deuteronomy 22:5; Romans 1:26-27)

9. That the institution of marriage is between one man and one woman, and any sexual activity outside of Biblically defined marriage is prohibited by Scripture. We also believe that the institutions of family, church, and civil government have specific roles and authority established by God in His Holy Word. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Psalm 127:3-5; Ephesians 6:14; Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:11-13; Romans 13:1-4; 1 Peter 2:13-14, Luke 20:25)

10. That God created the universe by His word in six literal days as described in Genesis 1-2, NOT through a prolonged evolutionary process over a vast period of time. (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11; Nehemiah 9:6; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11)

11. In the creation of mankind by the direct act of God, and therefore in the sanctity of human life. Since each child is a gift from God, entrusted to his or her parents to be the primary caregivers and educators, parents should train them in accordance with God’s will and Word. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6)

12. In the spiritual unity of believers through our common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that individual doctrinal differences which may exist, outside of the aforementioned (1-11), should not hinder the unity of Christian home disciples/ home educators. (John 17:20-23; Ephesians 4:3-6; Romans 12:5, 10, 16, 18; 14:1-8; 15:5-6; Titus 3:2,9, 1 Corinthians 1:10)
