About the speaker
The Sailors have five children and began their homeschool journey in 1988 before homeschooling was considered legal in Michigan. They were actively involved in working with the Michigan legislature to adopt the Michigan School Code of 1994 that grants all parents the right to homeschool their children in the state of Michigan without teacher certification requirements. The Sailors homeschooled all five of their children from K-12th grades.
Kelly and Patti were homeschool support leaders for the Jackson Area Home Educators Support Group from 1991-1999.
The Sailors founded the PIONEERS Co-op in 1994, a Christian homeschool ministry providing educational support, tutorial services, fellowship and enrichment opportunities for homeschool families in the Jackson, Michigan Area. Patti has served as the director of this ministry since its founding.
Kelly and Patti have a passion for guarding and protecting our homeschool freedoms and currently serve as Legislative Liaisons for MICHN.
